Job Description

About the Role

As an Animal Health Technician at AFB International, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our animals receive top-quality care. Using your veterinary technician expertise, you will assist with medical procedures, monitor animal health, and help maintain a safe, clean, and enriching environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Delivering compassionate daily care to all animals, prioritizing their comfort and wellbeingAssisting veterinarians during surgeries, including anesthesia monitoring and equipment prepCollecting samples and performing diagnostic tests such as bloodwork, radiology, and lab workAdministering medications, IV fluids, wound care, and oxygen therapy as neededMonitoring and documenting animal health, maintaining accurate medical records using AviMark softwareSupporting animal intake and health assessments for new arrivalsMaintaining clean, organized, and safe kennel areas following USDA and AWA standardsEducating and collaborating with team members to ensure consistent animal care practices

What We’re Looking For

Associate’s Degree in Veterinary TechnologyMinimum 2 years of experience working in a veterinary or animal care environmentProficient in veterinary nursing, diagnostics, and surgical assistingCompassionate, patient, and comfortable working with diverse animalsStrong attention to detail with excellent communication and teamwork skillsAble to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various environments
