Baystate Health is seeking a skilled and dedicated Anesthesia Technician to join our dynamic Anesthesia Services team on the 2nd shift. Under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or physician, the Anesthesia Tech performs a variety of routine and technical tasks to support the anesthesia care team in the surgical environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesAnesthesia Equipment Support:
Perform first-level troubleshooting and routine maintenance on anesthesia equipment. Clean and disinfect TEE probes and other anesthesia-related equipment. Maintain and report repair records in coordination with Clinical Engineering.
OR Readiness:
Set up operating rooms for anesthesia services, including IV solutions, fluid warmers, and necessary supplies based on the procedure and physician requests.
Case Coverage:
Provide room turnover and technical support for a variety of surgical cases, including OB, IVF, Trauma, Cardiac, Endoscopy, and remote sites. Assist the Difficult Airway Team with equipment setup.
Supplies & Inventory Management:
Maintain appropriate PAR levels of anesthesia supplies and equipment. Perform daily and monthly quality control on equipment as required.
Patient-Centered Care:
Deliver age-appropriate technical support for patients across all life stages – from neonates to adults – ensuring safe and respectful handling of all equipment and supplies.
Safety & Infection Control:
Follow established procedures for infection control and body substance precautions. Maintain clean and sterile environments and appropriately handle and report faulty equipment.
Team Collaboration & Education:
Participate in ongoing staff development, annual in-service training, and performance improvement activities. Show initiative in learning new procedures and adapting to evolving best practices.
Demonstrated competency in reading and mathematics (aptitude test required)
Ability to follow detailed instructions and manage multiple tasks by priority
Moderate physical strength and mechanical ability
Excellent hand-eye coordination, vision, and hearing (with or without correction)
Ability to remain calm and efficient in high-stress and emergency situations
Preferred Qualifications6 months to 1 year of experience in a hospital or clinical setting
Supervisory experience is a plus (depending on years of service)
