Job Requirements

We are seeking an Android HMI Lead to drive the design, prototyping and realization of next-generation Human Machine Interface (HMI) features for In-Vehicle Infotainment systems. This role involves working closely with UI/UX designers and system engineers to deliver intuitive, responsive and safe user experiences on Automotive Android platforms. This role also ensures alignment with stakeholder expectations and acts as a primary contact for customer discussions and technical discussions. 

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development of Android based HMI applications for IVI systems.Bridge UX designs and technical implementation by translating wireframes and interaction flows into executable development tasks.Implement animations, transitions and micro-interactions that enhance user experience while meeting safety guidelines.Coordinate validation activities to ensure HMI meets the functional and UX requirements of customers.Collaborate closely with customers and stakeholders, conducting technical discussions, presenting prototypes and aligning requirements.Conduct design and code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices, standards and compliance with HMI guidelines.Mentor and guide the HMI team, providing technical leadership, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring smooth execution.

Work Experience

Primary Skills/Requirements

Strong hands-on experience in Android application development (Java/Kotlin).3+ years in a lead role in Android HMI development.Deep expertise in Android UI frameworks (Jetpack Compose).Experience with HMI/UX development for IVI or other embedded devices.Good understanding of Android Material design guidelines.Understanding of Android Automotive OS (AAOS)Proficiency in using tools such as Android studio, Git, Jenkins, Jira.Understanding of Coroutines.Knowledge in dependency injection framework (Hilt/Dagger)Experience in unit testing (Espresso, JUnit)Proficiency in Android performance optimization, memory management and debugging tools.Ability to lead Android teams, perform reviews, and guide best practices for HMI development.Strong problem-solving & analytical skills.

Preferred (Secondary) Skills

Hands-on experience with Android Automotive OS (AAOS)Experience in Android Jetpack components (View model, Live data, Room, Navigation etc)Experience in design diagram tools like Astah, Enterprise Architect, Visio etc.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelineExposure to Unity or Unreal engines.Experience in integrating RESTful APIs and JSON/XML data.
