WDAF-TV FOX4 in Kansas City is seeking a Morning News Anchor. The News Anchor serves as the primary presenter of news stories and other content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers. This anchor position contributes to our morning ensemble,  supporting lead anchors and enhancing our newscasts’ ensemble approach. 

Presents news stories and content for all platforms – broadcast TV, digital and streaming shows.Writes news stories and produces segments in a clear and concise manner for multiple platforms.Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsrooms situations as required.Ensures all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.Contributes to a collaborative environment with co-anchors and behind-the-scenes staff to create inviting, ensemble energy for viewers.Assists with idea generation, research and coordination of segments.Builds network of sources who supply information that allows Station to stay ahead of its competitors.Conducts interviews with newsmakers and guests.Acts as a field reporter as assigned.Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.Collaborates on special projects and other duties as assigned

 Requirements & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.Fluency in English.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required.Minimum five years’ experience in news reporting or anchoring.  Demonstrated superior on-air presence and command of subject matter.Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues.Experience guiding, directing and motivating others.Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution.Proficiency with computers, editing and logging software to prepare stories.Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.Flexibility to work any shift.
