**Description:**
Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is seeking an Anatomic Pathology Manager to join our team!
Schedule: Full-time day shift
This person will oversee daily section operations of histology and cytology and outcomes of work performed by others via direct observation and review of daily work logs.
**Responsibilities include:**
+ Reviews and critically analyzes work of other histotechs, cytotechs, prep techs and lab assistants, makes independent decisions concerning acceptability of procedures.
+ Assures integrity of equipment function and assay systems through maintenance of quality assurance standards.
+ Oversees internal and external quality control program of sections and maintains compliance with regulatory standards. Assists in review, revision, and writing of new and existing laboratory procedures, policies, and safety manuals.
+ Maintains department within CAP compliance and participates in CAP inspections.
+ Performs routine histologic procedures according to established protocols. Maintains specimen integrity and identity throughout the preparation process. Performs histochemical and immunohistochemical staining procedures. Periodically performs routine cytologic procedures based on section needs. Performs quality control testing in accordance with established protocols. Performs and documents corrective action when necessary.
+ Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots complex laboratory instruments. Maintains Laboratory records and computer data. Properly files slides/paraffin blocks. Assists pathologist with specimen grossing and frozen sections. Manages infectious specimens, hazardous chemicals and potentially dangerous instruments in accordance with hospital and departmental policies in order to maintain a safe work environment.
+ Changes work methods or schedule and modifies behavior when necessary in order to adapt to various situations and changing work demands. Demonstrates professional, friendly, courteous, interpersonal skill in interactions with hospital staff, supervisory staff, co-workers, customers, and patients/family members.
+ Interfaces with pathologists and all levels of hospital personnel. May serve on a variety of committees as deemed necessary.
+ Maintains schedule for both sections. Maintains adequate inventory and places orders as needed. Instructs and trains staff as well as students. Demonstrates proficiency with Laboratory Information system. Assists LIS manager with testing, report issues, and makes recommendations for changes and additions. Interviews prospective employees, monitors competency of staff, performs evaluations and reports issues to director.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Associates degree or equivalent in Histotechnician Technology from an accredited institution and relevant laboratory experience. HT (ASCP) preferred.
+ Performance of routine and highly specialized analytical procedures requires a high level of technical skill and use of technical judgement in performance and evaluation of all procedures. Understanding of all routine, new and special procedures required for performance of testing in the laboratory.
+ Experience with laboratory information system (Cerner) preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office software products desirable.
