Job Description
Join our team as an Analytical Chemist and bring your expertise to support business objectives through technical capabilities. You will be involved in material, process, and product development projects, and facilitate technology sharing and cooperative programs across divisions. Develop relationships with customers, vendors, and technical organizations while effectively interfacing with multinational lead centers.
ResponsibilitiesProvide technical capabilities to support business objectives.Participate in material, process, and product development projects.Support technology sharing and cooperative programs across divisions.Develop relationships with customers, vendors, and technical organizations.Interface effectively with multinational lead centers.Apply knowledge of rubber or plastic formulation design.Conduct material testing using ASTM methods.Utilize knowledge of rubber or plastic mixing and surface chemistry related to adhesion.Work with rubber fabrication, molding, and extrusion methods.Understand compound attributes related to processing and design function.Apply knowledge of surface chemistry for bonding to substrates.Utilize tooling technology for injection, compression, and transfer molding.Essential SkillsProficiency in chemistry, analytical chemistry, and wet chemistry.Experience with gas chromatography, chromatography, ICP, GCMS, and GC.Understanding of NMR, FTIR, SEM/EDS, DMA, TMA, DSC, and TGA.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science.At least 2 years of chemistry laboratory experience with FT-IR, NMR, GC, and SEM.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Familiarity with analytical lab equipment such as DMA, TMA, DSC, TGA, FT-IR, NMR, SEM/EDS, and GC.Knowledge of rubber mixing and molding practices.Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth, Michigan.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.00 - $36.00/hr.
