Regulatory reporting in Europe remains a significant challenge for Payment institutions as regulators scrutiny continues increasing. This role is a unique opportunity to gain experience about the complex European Regulatory landscape and challenges, across European markets, for payments institutions, learn about our business model across Europe and learn to manage risks in a changing environment.
This is a new position to bolster the ICS Risk & Control Regulatory Reporting Team, which is responsible for setting and developing the overall program governance of the European regulatory reporting obligations in scope. This position will have a transversal focus in the European American Express legal entities, both issuing and acquiring.
The ideal candidate will have an exceptional ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously, demonstrate extreme attention to detail, and show strong autonomy in managing a wide range of tasks connected with the management and development of the Reg. Reporting program, and also a good capacity to identifying, escalating and addressing regulatory risks impacting the business. Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills are essential.
How will you make an impact in this role?
As part of the Europe Reg. Reporting PMO team, candidate main responsibilities will focus in supporting the PMO lead/team in the following areas:
Liaise with Compliance, Legal and business stakeholders as required (e.g. coordination with other Control Management teams and other Risk Pillars, Strategic Compliance Plan goals, etc.) Management of the Intake requests and Taxonomy processes, including support managing the team email inbox Management of the ICS Risk & Control Regulatory Reporting Master Inventory, including data updates, additions, removals, inventory analysis in partnership with Reg. Reporting LE managers, Compliance, GCO and other relevant stakeholders to ensure accuracy Management of the Reg Reporting Handbook (in partnership with the LE Reg Reporting managers) Support to management of the monthly Operating Council and Compliance MeetingsMinimum Qualifications
Proficiency in English and Spanish Regulatory knowledge Ability to interpret cross jurisdictional Regulatory requirements Understanding of Regulatory frameworks in EU and how local Regulatory regimes differ across regions Comfortable working independently, while also thriving in collaborative, dynamic team environments Ability to document, present and communicate clearly and concisely at different levels and across countries / functions Previous Amex and/or regulatory reporting experience Proficiency in Excel. SharePoint and Access knowledge will be a plus Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects in fast-paced environments with competing deadlines Demonstrate autonomy in identifying regulatory risks and coordinating proactive measures to mitigate them Demonstrate curiosity and critical thinking to propose new solutions to enhance the team’s efficiency, improve reporting processes, methodologies, etc Strong stakeholder management experience; excel at building relationships and managing cross-functional collaborationPreferred Qualifications
Management or support of internal or external Audits Setting up and/or running governance forums like Steering, Operating or other committees/councils Prior experience/background in compliance and capacity to understand and analyse regulation will be valuable Knowledge of MI reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) would be handy Experience in managing governance forums, steerco working groups, etc. will be a plus Legal or Compliance background would be bonus Knowledge of additional languages – Italian, French or German would be nice to haveA growth mindset and a positive attitude are key to join our dynamic team!
