What You'll Do
As an Analyst – BCG Vantage on our Topic Activation path within BCG's Insurance Practice Area, you will work in a growing global team, providing expertise and insights into the insurance industry, working together with BCG case and proposal teams to deliver customized knowledge assets and expert advisory.
Additionally, you will support your topic in developing existing & new intellectual property and knowledge assets. You will work on commercialization efforts for the topic/sector, with business leaders, supporting marketing efforts, conferences and publications.
Your focus will cover the entire spectrum of the insurance industry, including property and casualty insurance, commercial and reinsurance, health as well as life insurance. You will also contribute to the commercialization efforts for the various sectors in collaboration with business leaders, supporting marketing initiatives, conferences, and publications.
BCG's Insurance Practice helps companies identify and develop growth opportunities that can reshape the future of the insurance industry. We uncover new avenues for value creation and provide process support during times of business transformation. Our services extend globally to all sectors of the insurance industry, including property and casualty, commercial and reinsurance, health and life insurance.
YOU'RE GOOD AT
• Applying an in-depth understanding of insurers' financial reporting (income statement & balance sheet and financial analysis thereof) to build key proprietary assets of the Insurance Practice Area - Insurance Profit Pools – with focus on Non-life insurance sector
• Building deep analytical models (using Excel and other technical platforms) to drive market projections
• Working collaboratively and effectively in a group dynamic often virtual, proficient in agile ways of working
• Communicating with senior stakeholders, being credible and proactive
• Framing, structuring, and sharing intellectual property, with the ability to write clearly and concisely
• Working creatively and analytically in a time-limited, problem-solving environment
• Flexibility and bring a curious and creative mindset, open for new things and able to propose innovative ideas
• Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity
• Interacting with internal and external stakeholders while working in a global collaborative team environment
What You'll Bring
• 1+ years of experience in the research of the insurance industry, preferably with expertise in financial analysis. Ability and interest in developing a deep understanding of insurance-related topics
• A Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred
• Proficient in data modeling and visualization tools such as Excel
• Strong knowledge and enthusiasm for managing databases and analytical tools.
• Exposure to VBA, SQL, Alteryx, is considered a plus, but not essential.
• A collaborative work style with solid work ethic, service-oriented mentality, and experience working in a matrix organization.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple clients in a fast-paced environment, prioritize requests, and manage client expectations, with strong multi-tasking skills.
• Strong analytical skills, including financial and operational data analysis, data management, statistical analysis, and modeling
• Fluency in English
• Strong business acumen and problem-solving capabilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
