We're searching for a Treasury Relationship Associate responsible for a portfolio of Sponsor Growth Middle Market (SGMM) names, new to MUFG. This midcorp group is composed of clients falling into six vertical silos: 1. Middle Market Healthcare, 2. Diversified Industries (including Consumer & Retail), 3. Direct Lending, 4. Entertainment Finance, 5. Middle Market Technology, and 6. Restaurant Franchise & Hospitality. This individual will support 1,2 Treasury Relationship Managers and their portfolios, to market products, solutions and services to complex corporate clients and prospects in the above verticals. Support senior management with various initiatives, as well as keeping internal coverage partners apprised on industry best practices related to working capital solutions, core treasury, liquidity
Major Responsibilities:
90% Business Development & Account Management
- Assist Treasury Relationship Manager partners with cultivating new business opportunities by forging close working relationships with coverage partners and corporate clients and prospects
- Leverage MUFG’s credit position and relationship to identify cross sell opportunities
- Participate and present at annual account planning exercises, with expectation of understanding client share of wallet, MUFG’s competitive advantage and ways to strike the right fit to grow cross sell
- Analyze complex treasury armaments, from which you will create proposals and pricing models.
- Perform routine pipeline, and detailed sales tracking
- Recommend exception pricing to large deal review committee for exception pricing, and services
- Monitor and update company profiles to ensure adequate recordkeeping of bank relationships.
- Collaborate with Product Management partners to enhance current product set, that will allow you to succeed, and identify new treasury product solutions.
10% Risk Management
- Follow, and ensure compliance on the part of TRM's supported to adhere to all bank Regulatory Compliance policies such as the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, Privacy Act and Regulations Q & X (RESPA).
- Certify that all related forms such as Customer Identification Program (CIP), Know Your Customers (KYC), Suspicious Activity Reports (SARS), Currency and Transaction Reporting (CTR), etc. and verify related tasks are completed within assigned time periods.
- Participate in any required corporate and business line Compliance Training.
- Follow account opening procedures suspicious activity referral requirements and processes.
- Work with clients to understand each client's business activities, product needs, working capital structure and metrics, liquidity strategy (net borrower vs. net investor) and propose/price competitive treasury management solutions
The right candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree, MBA a plus. If not currently employed in a Treasury Associate role at MUFG or elsewhere, summer college internship in similar, applicable financial role
- 1+ years’ experience in sales and relationship management support; preferably at a MUFG peer cash management institution; foreign or domestic
- Sales and marketing experience, appropriate techniques, bank lending policies and practices, operations and services, familiarity with Federal and State banking regulations
- Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) accreditation a plus
- Familiarity with industry standard treasury management concepts and principles and ability to bring thought-leadership to Treasury Relationship Manager portfolio
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include selling of Bank services, negotiating and closing sales opportunities
- Financial acumen – working capital (DPO, DSO assessment) and peer group benchmarking
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Local and regional travel to business conferences, client appointments and internal offsites via ground or air transportation
The typical base pay range for this role is between $80K - $95K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
