About the Role

The role is responsible to support the team in ensuring governance activities are in place over the processes of financial reporting through risk assessment exercise as well as setting of relevant controls and standards.

Key Responsibilities

              (1) Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR)

Support the periodic financial controls self-assessments on ICFR of all Singapore financial reporting entities.Support team the identification of risk and control for internal control over reporting, as well as areas of improvement.Support the ICFR audit, including coordinate and participate in walkthrough session with process owners before commencement of ICFR audit.Support ad-hoc projects, including adoption of new risks and controls framework for ICFR, implementation of system for controls self-assessments. 

(2) Balance Sheet Reconciliation

Perform the review of balance sheet reconciliations to ensure balance sheet accounts are supported with appropriate documents for all reporting entities in Singapore.Monitor and suggest resolutions where possible to ensure long outstanding exposure items are progressively resolved/addressed by process owners.

(3) Financial Closing Certification

Manage the quarter financial certification process to ensure all activities required for financial closing certification are signed off within the stipulated timeline given.Highlight non-compliance issues to Management in a timely manner.
 

(4) Proper Governance

Drive other adhoc governance related activities, including third party financials due diligence review, journal review, etcOversee and provide support to Finance teams on the operational risks and controls self-assessments.Support the setting policies or controls to close the identified controls gaps.Support / lead other ad-hoc tasks, including special review or investigations to identify areas of improvement and address control gaps.

Key Requirements

3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in an insurance company or financial related sector, with preferably 2 to 3 years of audits or internal controls related experienceQualified CPA with degree in Accountancy or ACCAGood knowledge of internal control principles and risk management practicesGood understanding in accounting, and month end financial closing processGood working knowledge of operations and insurance regulationsStrong in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Proficiency in additional tools such as Visio, Alteryx, etc., is an advantageStrong analytical, meticulous, investigative and problem-solving skills, and independentExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal
