Ammonia Refrigeration Technician

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm


 

Ammonia Refrigeration Technician maintains the operation, maintenance, and repair of the industrial ammonia refrigeration systems. You will ensure the facilities' equipment runs efficiently and safely according to OSHA and IIAR standards. Key responsibilities include mechanical troubleshooting, system maintenance, reading blueprints, electrical work, and responding to equipment breakdowns.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOperate & Maintain: Manage the ammonia refrigeration systems, including pumps, valves, and purgers.Troubleshoot & Repair: Diagnose and fix issues with refrigeration equipment.Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, including those from OSHA, EPA, and IIAR (International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration), to ensure a safe work environment.Technical Tasks: Perform tasks like replacing valve components, troubleshooting electrical systems, and receiving ammonia deliveries.Record Keeping: Maintain records and data in the company's CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).Training: Train other utility technicians on proper equipment use.ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain, repair and perform evaluations and preventative and predictive maintenance on building infrastructure as instructed by leadership  Maintain, repair and perform evaluations and preventative and predictive maintenance on material handling equipment as instructed by leadershipMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES)2 years experience with ammonia refrigeration systemsProficiency in mechanical troubleshooting, reading blueprints and P&IDs, and electrical workStrong understanding of safety protocols and emergency procedures for ammonia systemsProficient computer skills including Word and ExcelExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and deliver technical results to a non-technical audienceExcellent problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skillsAbility to work in temperatures as low as -20 Fahrenheit/-25 Celsius in cold storage sites while wearing company provided personal protective equipment and freezer gearMust be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs./18 kgs.; weight may be more dependent upon facility Ability to work a flexible work schedule and shift, including weekends if neededMust be comfortable with various noise levels, at times, can be loudSome locations require demonstrated knowledge and practice of Working at Height regulations
