Griffin Health is seeking a part-time Ambulance Billing Specialist to join our dynamic team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely billing for ambulance services in accordance with CMS and insurance guidelines. We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced individual who can contribute to our mission of providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities:
Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, and obtain required authorizations.
Review medical records and documentation to assign accurate billing codes per CMS guidelines.
Ensure patient and crew signatures meet compliance standards.
Prepare and submit insurance claims with precision and attention to CMS regulations.
Follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and appeals with insurance companies.
Communicate with patients regarding unpaid accounts and billing questions.
Collaborate with patients, clients, and hospital departments to gather missing or clarifying information.
Maintain accurate and compliant billing records and documentation.
Stay informed on coding updates, policy changes, and insurance procedures.
Support continuous improvement in billing processes and revenue cycle operations.
Deliver exceptional customer service in handling inquiries from patients, clients, and insurers.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
NAAC Certification (National Academy of Ambulance Compliance) – Required
Prior experience in ambulance or medical billing within a healthcare setting.
Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding, and relevant billing software.
Experience with Zoll RescueNet or similar ambulance billing platforms.
Strong knowledge of CMS and insurance billing guidelines and reimbursement processes.
Familiarity with EMS procedures and medical terminology.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage tasks independently in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
