AltaGas - Rail Relief Operator
**Job Description** **AltaGas - Rail Terminal Relief Operator** Are you ready to be part of an essential team that keeps energy moving? AltaGas is seeking a hands-on, safety-minded **Relief Operator** for a six-month term (with the possibility of extension) at our Truck & Rail Terminal in Fort Saskatchewan. In this critical role, you'll contribute to the safe and efficient transport of vital products like LPG, biodiesel, and ethanol. Our operators work a 28-day rotating schedule, reporting directly to the Lead Operator. **You Will:** + Complete day-to-day operational tasks following site operating procedures regarding the operation of the truck racks, rail racks, and trans-loading operations onsite to ensure products are being safely transferred into and out of the facility (LPG, Biodiesel, Vinyl Acetate, RMG & Ethanol). + Work to achieve the safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operations of Fort Saskatchewan Terminal and connecting pipelines + Adhere to all site policies, procedures, practices and standards. + Operate onsite boiler when required to provide steam to warm products to enhance product transfer effectiveness. + Complete safe work permitting for maintenance tasks. + Conduct safe preparation and energy isolation of equipment for site maintenance activities. + Monitoring equipment and identifying variances in conditions + Accurately complete daily paperwork and documentation (i.e. inspections, load sheets, equipment checklists etc.). + Support maintenance personnel with day-to-day tasks when required to assist. + Complete general site housekeeping and preventative maintenance tasks. + Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team; actively participate in emergency situations (fire/spill) when required. **You Bring:** + 2 to 5 years of Hydrocarbon Terminal experience or Hydrocarbon rail loading experience or Rail Transloading experience. + A valid ABSA 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate is considered an asset. + Current Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License. + Prior Railcar Safety & Securement Training preferred. + Track Inspection Qualification (Level 1 or Level 2) preferred. + Physical capabilities to safely perform all essential aspects and responsibilities, including climbing, lifting, bending, walking long distances, working in adverse weather conditions, etc. + Mechanical aptitude to capably operate terminal equipment + Demonstrated safety mindset with the ability to actively participate in all facility safety initiatives + Previous safety training or current oil & gas safety training certification considered an asset (i.e. TDG, WHMIS, H2S, Fall Protection, First Aid, etc.) This is a safety sensitive position and as such requires the successful candidate to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. **About Us** AltaGas is a leading North American energy infrastructure company, proudly powering communities with affordable energy.
