Summary This National Guard position is for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number NGD0734000 and is part of the 114 MAI SQ. This is a permanent Title 32, Dual-Status position. AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: - Title 32 Dual Status Technicians (DST): permanent employees (tenure group 1 or 2) of the South Dakota Air National Guard - Title 5 National Guard Employees (NGE): permanent employees (tenure group 1 or 2) with military membership in the South Dakota Air National Guard Responsibilities As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-8852-10, you will: The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders and/or supervisors, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated nonsupervisory work. The occupation and nonsupervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Service members in the rank of MSgt - SMSgt are eligible to apply. For award of AFSC 2A690, qualification and possession of 2A673, 2A674, 2A675, or 2A676 is mandatory. Aptitude scores can be checked on the vMPF or at the Customer Service in the Force Support Squadron and physical profile in the medical squadron. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full-time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience in the KSAs listed below. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training. Knowledge of aircraft repair functions Skill to plan and organize the work of the assigned organization Skill to implement regulatory safety requirements and ensure subordinates wear appropriate PPE and follow pertinent safety precautions Ability to establish deadlines and priorities to support assigned mission Skill to prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises Ability to oversee and train subordinate workers, to deal objectively with workers, and render sound supervisory decisions Education NA Additional Information INCENTIVES: Recruitment or relocation incentive may be offered dependent on budget.
