AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISOR AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, Positon Description D0734000 is part of the 190th Air Refueling Wing, Kansas Air National Guard. Responsibilities As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-8852-10, you will plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establish deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Determine skills, materials and equipment required to do the work. Participate in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Provides workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations as the scheduling of projected work. Assign tasks to be performed. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instruct subordinates on new procedures or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Review work in progress or on completion. Make adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work. Note and investigate work related problems and independently implements corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors. Assure that equipment and materiel is available when needed. Coordinate work with other units. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements. Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Military Grades: E-7 through E-8 AFSC: 2A574 **Must be willing and able to cross train into the compatible AFSC GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have experience which demonstrates you have the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion. Lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts weights up to 80 pounds such as generators, engine starters, and ejection seats with the assistance of weight handing equipment or other workers. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids; fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces such as landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps; engine noise, heat, blast, intake suction, rotating propellers; explosive munitions; electrical voltage; cartridge actuating devices; liquid oxygen; fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents.
