Summary This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D0806000, and is part of the 169 AMXS, South Carolina Air National Guard. Responsibilities The purpose of this position is to provide overall direction and coordination of the subordinate work activities and functions. Work is carried out by two or more separate organizational units and is controlled through a small number of subordinate supervisors. The work involves two or more dissimilar or unrelated occupations. The occupation and nonsupervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10 Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO AREAS OF CONSIDERATION (AOC) 1 ONLY. AOC DEFINITIONS: Area 1: Current permanent employees of the South Carolina Air National Guard. (Note-Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and will not qualify for this AOC) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Air National Guard. Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Air National Guard. Min/Max Military Grades: E7-E8 Preferred: 2A/2W/2R AFSC Qualified MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: - In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Quality of Experience - Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: - For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. 4. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. 5. The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment. Education For entry into this specialty, completion of high school or General Equivalency Diploma is mandatory. Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified. You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
