Job Summary
This program is designed to provide students with an experiential learning workplace opportunity for aviation mechanics. This program is offered in cooperation with accredited colleges and trade schools. The intern will work alongside experienced professionals in the aviation industry, gaining practical, hands-on experience in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of aircraft. This intern will attend training events and exposure to a wide variety of maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting and system inspections.
Through this program the intern will participate in a paid internship placement for a period ranging not to exceed (24) weeks. This placement will include specific beginning and ending dates. Interns will be assigned to a position based on the intern’s academic merit, recommendations, experience and interests. Work schedules will be based on the intern’s academic schedule.

This paid internship provides students with experiential learning opportunities in aircraft inspection, maintenance, and repair.
+ This internship is paid at $22.00 per hour, with the opportunity to transition into a higher-paying apprenticeship role upon obtaining your A&P certification. No guarantee of full-time placement—but top performers may be considered for future opportunities

+ Key Responsibilities
+ Assist certified maintenance staff in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of aircraft.
+ Observe and learn about basic helicopter systems and operational readiness for EMS MEDFLIGHT missions.
+ Support troubleshooting and diagnostics for mechanical and electrical systems.
+ Assist with aircraft maintenance documentation, data entry, and parts inventory organization.
+ Help maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces according to FAA and County safety standards.
+ Participate in training on aircraft systems including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and fuel systems.
+ Attend safety briefings and comply with PPE and safety protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
+ High school diploma or GED required.
+ Must be enrolled in or within six (6) months of completing a program that prepares the intern for the Airframe and Powerplant License Exam (A&P).
+ Candidates must pass an FAA background check.
+ Fingerprinting required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
+ Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

+ Salary offers above the minimum of the pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
+ Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
