Summary This AIRCRAFT MECHANIC LEADER position, is located in the AVCRAD and is part of the CA 1106 TASMG. Responsibilities THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT MECHANIC LEADER, WL-8852-10, is to lead three or more Aircraft Mechanics, WG-8852-10, crew chiefs, and specialist personnel. In addition, performs journeyman duties involving the inspection, repair, modification, and servicing of aircraft systems, components, and assemblies for both on- and off-aircraft. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position. Priority Areas(s) of Consideration: Priority consideration is first given to the area below. AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment. Military Grades: E-5 through E-7 Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive IS NOT authorized. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program. Employee must pass a pre-appointment physical examination and meet established requirements. Qualifications General Experience: Have experience or training that has provided you with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications, and use of hand tools and test equipment. AIRCRAFT MECHANIC LEADER, WL-8852-10: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have at least 18 months experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series; Ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment; Ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.
