Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the Certain Competitive Service / Modified Direct Hire Authority. Responsibilities You will perform complex electrician work involved in disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, installation and maintenance of aircraft electrical systems, equipment and accessories. You will correct discrepancies by removal, repair, or replacement of defective circuits, wires, connectors, control units, plugs, switches, circuit breakers, diodes, and other parts of aircraft electrical systems. You will perform final functional checks on existing and newly installed aircraft electrical systems, equipment, wiring and cables to check continuity, and resistance. You will use hand and power tools, in addition to working with blueprints, technical directives, diagrams, and schematics. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below: This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Testing and repairing aircraft electrical systems and accessories on fixed and rotary wing aircraft; 2) Working from blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings, and technical directives; 3) Correcting discrepancies by removal, repair, or replacement of parts of aircraft electrical systems; and 4) Using hand and power tools associated with the trade. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
