About the RoleJoin Ashley Furniture's dynamic freight team as an Air Freight Specialist and play a crucial role in managing international shipments from origin to destination. You'll coordinate with global partners, ensure customs compliance, and optimize freight operations that keep our supply chain moving efficiently across international markets.
This position combines logistics expertise with problem-solving skills to manage time-sensitive shipments, resolve complex freight issues, and drive continuous improvements in our international transportation processes.
What You'll Do Track and coordinate import air shipments from origin to the final destination Manage customs clearance by working with Classification Team for accurate documentation Monitor purchase order due dates and resolve variances in internal systems Prioritize critical shipments for production needs and market deadlines Process wire payments for sample shipments and service providers Audit carrier billing to ensure accurate charges and clearance information Coordinate LCL shipments including rate quotes, pickups, and delivery arrangements Train international vendors and overseas offices on air freight procedures Manage export shipments with documentation and vendor coordination Analyze costs and market rates to secure competitive freight pricing Develop process improvements and maintain standard operating proceduresWhat You Need High School Diploma or equivalent (some college preferred) 1+ year of office support, clerical, or administrative experience Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite Time management and organizational excellence Ability to work independently and in team environments Professional customer service approach with vendors and partners Thrive in fast-paced environments with multiple concurrent projects Flexible hours when business needs require
