**Introduction**
Your responsibilities may include writing code to build new features, contributing to automation, or ensuring product quality through testing and validation. This hands-on experience will help you deepen your technical skills, gain exposure to enterprise-grade software development practices, and build a strong foundation for a successful career in technology.Throughout the internship, you will also get the opportunity to deep-dive into the product and develop expertise in the IBM watsonx.governance solution.
**Your role and responsibilities**
As an intern with the IBM watsonx.governance team, you will be immersed in a collaborative, agile environment where you will learn what it takes to become a well-rounded software engineer. During the internship, you may be involved in multiple functional areas such as Software Development, DevOps, or Quality Assurance (QA)—with opportunities to rotate across roles based on business needs.
**Required technical and professional expertise**
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (completed).
* Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Java, C, C++, or JavaScript.
* Fundamental understanding of algorithms and data structures, and strong computer science foundations.
* Familiarity with software development tools and version control systems (e.g., Git).
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
* Quick learner with a proactive attitude toward acquiring new technical skills and knowledge.
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
* Experience with AI, machine learning or data science coursework or academic projects.
* Familiarity with cloud computing platforms or containerization (e.g. IBM Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes).
* Understanding of AI governance concepts (such as ethics, compliance, transparency) and relevant tools or frameworks.
* Any prior internship or project experience in software development, IT or related technology fields.
