Cybersecurity Science and Analytics (CS&A) plays a vital role in protecting HSBC by leveraging data-driven capabilities to implement innovative security measures and make informed business decisions. The CS&A mission is critical to protecting HSBC customers, the HSBC brand, financial assets, information, and shareholder value by ensuring that HSBC maintains its leadership in safeguarding customer and company assets.
We are seeking a highly motivated Model Governance Analyst to join our Advanced Projects team. This role will be integral in supporting the oversight and compliance of AI/ML models used across the Cybersecurity team. As part of the CSA’s Advanced Projects team, you will collaborate with cybersecurity specialists, data scientists, and software engineers globally, focusing on streamlining model governance within Cybersecurity and for the bank as a whole. The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude, a keen eagerness to learn, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This semi-technical role requires knowledge of Cyber/AI governance, data analysis, reporting, and project management, with ample opportunity to interact with stakeholders and solve problems within AI and Cybersecurity.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Model GovernanceProcess model governance tickets from assessment to completion, ensuring compliance with governance standards.
Review model use cases and verify that they align with governance requirements.
Support the governance lifecycle for all models, including inventory management, validation tracking, and change controls.
Assist in the continuous improvement of model governance policies and procedures to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
Ensure data quality and integrity through robust and effective model governance practices.
Help prepare reports, presentations, and documentation supporting regulatory compliance, internal monitoring, and governance processes.
Maintain an up-to-date centralized model inventory, tracking all models, tools, and end-user applications across Cybersecurity.
Ensure that accurate and complete documentation is maintained for each model, including development documentation, validation reports, and change logs.
Identify and implement process improvements, especially through automation where applicable, to streamline workflows.
Provide regular reporting and analysis to senior management on model risk governance activities and progress.
Agile Project ManagementPrepare clear and concise communications for stakeholders in line with team standards of clarity and effectiveness.
Document requirements, analyze findings, and offer actionable recommendations.
Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and documentation to support governance processes and regulatory compliance.
Manage workflow timelines, track project progress, and ensure the timely delivery of project milestones and tasks.
Provide administrative support to the Model Oversight Chair and assist in managing the task backlog to ensure smooth project execution.
Stakeholder CollaborationPrioritize and provide same-day responses to ad-hoc issues and requests with accurate information.
Collaborate closely with teams from diverse backgrounds (cybersecurity, AI, risk, compliance), providing regular updates on AI model activity status and addressing any issues promptly.
Build and maintain positive relationships with internal collaborators, ensuring smooth communication and fostering a supportive team environment.
Continuous Learning and ImprovementContribute to the continuous improvement of processes, methodologies, and best practices within model governance.
Identify and develop opportunities for process improvement through automation or enhanced practices.
Analyze extensive datasets to uncover insights, trends, and patterns that inform decision-making and improve model governance effectiveness.
Skills and ExperienceExperience: 3 – 5 years of experience in financial services, AI/ML risk management, model governance, regulatory compliance, or technology.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or related fields is preferred.
Alternatively, applicants with career experience in data, technology, or programming (or industry certifications in Data or Cybersecurity) may be considered.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Java, C#, or similar (Nice to have).
Familiarity with Cyber/AI vocabulary and technologies.
Experience with Agile project management tools (e.g., JIRA).
