Ai Applications Engineering Senior Manager

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an AI Applications Engineering Senior Manager to lead the development of cutting-edge generative AI applications for internal use. This role is ideal for a technically strong leader passionate about building AI-driven solutions that enhance Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) productivity. The manager will oversee a high-performing agile team within Commercial and Corporate and Investment Banking Technology (CCIBT), focusing on large language model (LLM) services, agentic workflows, and AI Innovation. Key responsibilities include guiding architecture and design, ensuring secure and scalable solutions, and collaborating with product teams to align technology with business goals. The ideal candidate brings experience in generative AI, DevOps, and agile leadership, with a strong emphasis on user-centric design. This hybrid role requires on-site presence at designated locations and offers the opportunity to shape the future of AI at Wells Fargo while mentoring top engineering talent and driving innovation across the enterprise.


In this role, you will:

Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of engineering managers and experienced engineers in specialized domain areas, in roles with moderate complexity and risk responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technologyEnsure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each releasePartner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture; for example cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategyFunction as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planningIdentify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standardsDetermine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high-risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvementBuild engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as neededInterpret, develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise riskCollaborate with, partner with and influence Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practicesInteract directly with third party vendors and technology service providersManage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in technology engineeringHire, build and guide a culture of talent development to have the specialized domain experience and skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for product areas and products to meet business objectives and strategy, as well as conduct performance management for engineers and managers


Required Qualifications:

6+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education3+ years of management or leadership experience


Desired Qualifications:

Strong focus on Generative AI model safety and accuracy, with awareness of ethical and risk considerations.In-depth knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and agentic workflows in generative AI applications.Proficiency in DevOps tools and practices, including infrastructure as code.Strong experience collaborating with product and business stakeholders to deliver valuable and user-centric solutions.Financial industry experience or familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements.Demonstrated ability to balance technical excellence with business priorities.Proven ability to build and lead high-performing, agile software teams.Demonstrated success in recruiting, developing, and retaining engineering talent.Expertise in test-driven development methodologies.Ability to manage complex technology projects

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$185,000.00 - $300,000.00
