This is a fixed term position that ends five years from the employee’s start date.

Flexible work arrangements are available for this position, including the ability to work remotely at least 50% of the time. In person meetings will be required when applicable. We prefer a candidate located in the greater Austin area as travel to campus for occasional in-person events, training, team meetings, activities, etc., will be required.

This position provides life/work balance with typically a 40-hour work week and travel limited to training (e.g., conferences/courses).

Purpose

Enterprise Technology’s AI Studio sits at the epicenter of The University of Texas at Austin’s AI efforts, with a mission to democratize AI across campus. The AI Ambassador plays a crucial role in achieving this vision by leading engagement, literacy, training, and advocacy efforts. Serving as the bridge between technical teams and the broader campus community, this role ensures that AI tools, platforms, and frameworks are accessible, approachable, and impactful for students, faculty, and staff. The AI Ambassador will gather and interpret user needs for the technical team, design and deliver educational experiences, and lead the Student AI Ambassador Program to cultivate a sustainable culture of AI curiosity, inclusion, and innovation.

ResponsibilitiesEngagement, Advocacy & Training:Lead AI advocacy and education efforts by promoting awareness of AI’s potential and ethical considerations and acting as the primary liaison between campus stakeholders and the AI Studio.Develop and deliver AI literacy initiatives, including workshops, online modules, speaker series, and summits tailored to faculty, staff, and students.Support AI integration across campus by training users on AI tools and collaborating with faculty to embed responsible AI practices into curricula.

AI Student Ambassador Program Management: Recruit, mentor, and manage Student AI Ambassadors to build a strong network of student AI advocates across campus.Provide leadership and development opportunities by supporting ambassadors in leading workshops and outreach initiatives.Oversee program operations, including training schedules, engagement strategies, and event planning.

AI Product Feedback & Research: Collect and analyze user feedback to inform AI product development, usability improvements, and strategic decisions.Collaborate with technical teams to translate real-world user needs into practical AI features and solutions.Develop clear documentation and conduct usability studies to support user understanding and track AI adoption trends.

Perform other related functions as assigned:Stay updated on AI policy developments and responsible AI practices.Represent AI Studio at campus events, conferences, and industry panels.

Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Education Technology, Communication, or a related field.At least five years of experience in higher education, community engagement, or user training.Strong knowledge of AI frameworks, principles, and emerging technologies.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.Experience with curriculum development, instructional design, or public speaking.Capable of collaborating effectively with diverse groups, including faculty, staff, and students.

Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in AI, Data Science, Education Technology, or a related field.Experience managing educational programs or student leadership initiatives.Familiarity with popular AI tools such as Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, or other open-source AI platforms.Strong background in user-experience research and human-centered AI design.

Salary Range

$80,000 + depending on qualifications
