JOB SUMMARY:

Sensient Food Colors is a global leader in the development and manufacture of food colors for use throughout the world. The Field Representative role will coordinate with botanical colorant contract growers in the Philippines. The Field Representative will be based out of any of these locations: Calabarzon, Iloilo, Palawan and General Santos City. The Field Representative will be a member of Sensient Agronomy team to accomplish the duties specified below.

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

Manages contract farming relationships in the regionImplements standardized Sensient agronomic practices across all farms from seed to post-harvest to maximize yield in terms of pigmentation and harvest output

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with Sensient’s agronomy teamImplements soil and water testing, GPS-positioning, and standardized farm record keeping across all contract farmsConducts regular farm visits across the regionImplements germplasm adaptation trials, preliminary and advanced yield trials of breeding materials across the regionMonitors for insects, weeds, diseases and abiotic stresses and recommends appropriate prophylactic and curative recommendationsDevelops innovative farming practices for optimum yield and pigment production of botanical colorantsWorks with other regional agronomists, consultants, academics and other researchersCollects dataWrites timely and accurate field reportsAmenable to 75% domestic travel

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

College level/BS degree (preferably in agriculture and related fields)5+ years of experience in agricultureExperience with farms, familiarity with farm management, various farming practices including organic and conventional, and knowledge and experience in farm machinery and equipmentOwns a valid driver’s license and demonstrated ability to drive a truck to remote farmsAnalytical and decision-making skillsLocal language and some English proficiencyAbility to work independentlyEffective team player and ability to interact effectively with farmersProficient computer skillsAbility to work across diverse cultures
