The Aesthetics Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, patient-center care within the Medical Group. Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process as a standard, the RN collaborates with providers, interdisciplinary teams, and patients to assess, plan, and implement and evaluate safe and effective care. Provide direct and indirect patient care in the clinical setting under the direction of the Practice Administrator or designee, Clinic Coordinator/Charge Nurse, and Providers. This role is accountable for the assessment and treatment of patients using injectables and aesthetic technologies, will need to research, understand, and promote skin care lines, have an understanding of surgical procedures as well as practice pre-and post-operative care routines. This role includes patient education, triage, disease management, and care coordination while adhering to best practices and regulatory guidelines. This role requires strong clinical and communication skills to ensure the provision of quality care. All staff is considered to be an employee of St. Peter’s Health Medical Group first. Because of this, there is an expectation that they may float to other SPHMG areas when not needed in assigned area.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Sufficient care experience to demonstrate ability as an Ambulatory Staff RN (job specific). Previous experience in an ambulatory or outpatient setting preferred. 1-2 years of aesthetics experience preferred. Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Must demonstrate maturity in judgment, demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing environments, recognize and assist where help is needed.
EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited professional school of nursing. Completes all mandatory review/education as required and assigned.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current Montana License as a Registered Nurse. Medical Aesthetics Injector Certification required or able to obtain within 90 days of employment. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification and re-certification every two years.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Patient Care & Clinical Interventions Perform patient intake, including chief complaint, obtaining vital signs, medical history, medication reconciliation, verification and recording of pertinent clinical data, and clinical quality measures; administer appropriate screening tools, while providing excellent patient care. Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and minor procedures. Prepares, administers, and documents procedures and therapies according to established policies and procedures Responsible for analyzing skin and providing skin care consultations to ensure the best outcome for the patient May perform laser treatments under the general supervision of the physician Performs injections and filler treatments Able to prioritize workload, respond to patient calls and messages in accordance with policy. Use interventions and strategies that are appropriate to the population by taking into account culture, language, age, gender and other factors. Assess patients symptoms and needs over the phone as well as in-person Provide medical advice based on clinical protocols and guidelines Identify care gaps and implementation of care plan Assist and train staff to support physician in-office procedures Function independently during Nurse Appointments Must be able to use critical thinking and leadership skills to prioritize needs of clinic, allowing for most efficient clinic flow, and optimal patient experience Patient Education & Communication Educate patients and families on disease management, medications, treatment plans, and preventative care Serve as a patient advocate and assist patients in navigation along the care continuum with the goal of facilitating effective quality care and timeliness, resulting in improved patient satisfaction and outcomes; acts as a liaison between patients, providers, and other healthcare team members. Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs Participates in cross-marketing, company events, community events, lunch and learns, health expos and regularly participates in marketing and social media content. Triage Provide timely advice and guidance based on clinical assessments Triage patient concerns via phone or electronic communication Triaging referrals using applicable guidelines and protocols, promoting timely scheduling and processing of referrals to optimize patient care and workflow efficiency Clinic Operations & Documentation Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR) Document all nursing assessments, interventions, and communications within the EHR Utilize EHR, RightFax, and other healthcare technologies effectively Answer phones real-time, return patient messages, and coordinate communication between the care team and patients. Ensure exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and prepared for patient visits. Collaborate with care team, assist with walk-in, and scheduled clinic visits. Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, prescription refills, and diagnostic testing orders as needed Quality Improvement Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives Identify opportunities to enhance patient care and clinic operations Works collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team, co-workers, physicians, and the community emphasizing a teamwork environment Miscellaneous Other duties as assigned Required to accommodate for and attend 80% of all scheduled meetings/in-services Monitor environment for compliance with continual accreditation readiness.
