Position Overview

As an Aerial Construction Technician II – Fiber Optics, you’ll play a vital role in building and maintaining fiber optic networks by installing, troubleshooting, and repairing overhead fiber lines. This dynamic and physically engaging position involves pulling, tensioning, stranding, and spacing lines, as well as performing pole transfers, strand building, lashing, make-readies, and mounting equipment. You’ll work in both communication and power spaces, gaining valuable experience in a growing industry. Safely perform work in communication spacesQualify to work safely in energized spaces Participate in training for pole climbingOperate basic hand tools (Cordless Drill, Hammer, Wrench, Socket Set)Inspect, mobilize, and operate a bucket truck from the cabRecord and report the sequential footmarks by the operator or groundmanResponsible for framing polesPull cable, strand, fiber, and lash, for extended periods of timeProvide framing and attachment hardware for the operator, jack-down guys, pull lasherAssist with worksite housekeeping duties and equipment inspectionsProvide roadway flagging support for the operation to include obtaining Flagger CertificationMonitor basic gauges to determine tension and pressure on the cable linesAttend the reel to ensure uniform deployment of strand and fiber optic cable Assist with performing minor field repairs on equipmentAssist in the completion of documentation to include record-keeping, billing, inventory, etc.Learn to recognize general safety hazards and electrical-specific hazards such as missing and or degraded parts and hardwareProficient in the use of the following equipment: ladders, bucket trucks, man lifts, cable pullers and reel stands preferredExperience operating small equipment experience (i.e., forklift, bobcat, telehandler, skid steer, etc.) Flagger CertificationMust be comfortable working at elevated heights and confined spaces How We'll Support You
