Job Description:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES

Monitor and Report on various AU engagements and events that relate the work of the AULO

Schedule, send the agenda and take meeting notes during meetings organized by the office or in meetings where the AULO participates inUpdate the event tracker and partners contact listFile and organize all AULO Advocacy documents in BoxDraft the quarterly engagement report including people reached, children reached and policy changesUpdate the key events AU events and moments in line with the AU calendar

Research and Analysis

Draft 4 policy briefs or other papers or articles (one per quarter)Update the AULO statistics table quarterly

Networking and External Engagement

Participate and learn from the monthly Working Groups e.g. Regional Protection WG, Regional GBV WG, Inter-Agency (IAWG) Working Group – Advocacy and Communications,

Administrative Support, Planning and Reporting

Support the drafting and monitoring of budget, agenda and logistics *where necessary)Provide support for external meetings, workshops, launches, conferences or forumsDocument relevant documents on a shared driveEnsure office is clean at all times (supervise the work of office cleaners)Ensure visitors are well received and all follow ups documented

Communication

Support Regions and Countries to identify opportunities for child and youth engagementUpdate and manage the AULO social media platforms by posting relevant events. Track WV mentions especially on TwitterSupport children’s participation in AULO Advocacy events in line with child safeguarding principles

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience

Masters level Education experience in advocacy, external engagement, campaigns or policy analysis work in developing countries.Knowledge on Child Rights including the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child or the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.Experience planning and organizing workshops or forums for participants in multiple countries.Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, particularly in a cross-cultural environmentPlanning and organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple activitiesResearch experience especially in policy and advocacyUnderstanding of humanitarian and fragile contextsGood understanding of the AU will be an added value

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

Master’s degree in social sciences, communication, public policy, management or lawTraining certificate on advocacy, child rights and policy influence, an added advantage

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

Capabilities – achieving, thinking, self-managing, relational, networking and collaboration and humanitarian diplomacy.
