Advisor - Scientific Lead, Cell Line Generation

This individual will be a part of the cell line engineering/cell biology team that generates engineered cell lines for our preclinical programs in oncology. The primary responsibilities will include engineering cell lines for use in _in vitro_ mechanistic assays and studies. The right candidate is expected to work within a collaborative team environment, while being able to work independently to design, execute, and optimize experiments. Beyond performing experiments, the scientist will analyze the data from experiments, present the data in meetings and work with the rest of the team to determine the next steps. Position level will be commensurate with applicant’s experience. ***Roles and Responsibilities of the Position:** + Engineer various cell lines for pre-clinical studies such as over-expression, genome-editing, reporter lines etc. + Maintain cultures of frequently used suspension and adherent cell lines. + Deposit and archive cell lines in the company’s repository cell line bank. + Keep detailed and accurate laboratory records, present results at group meetings and project team meetings. + Viral construct cloning, viral titer measurement, and viral stock maintenance. + Perform routine molecular and cell biology techniques like, transfection/electroporation, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, qPCR analysis, western blot analysis, flow cytometry, fluorescent microscopy and so on. **Basic Requirements:** + PhD in biology, cell biology, molecular biology or a related field and 0-5 years experiences; or MS in biology, cell biology, molecular biology or a related field and 5-8 years experiences + Prior cell culture experience with immortalized cell lines, cancer cell lines and/or primary cells + Must be organized and efficient and able to work according to timelines. **Additional Preferences:** + Experience creating stable cell lines, transient transfections, viral transductions. Genome editing experience would be a plus. + Experience with performing flow cytometry, cell sorting, qPCR, ELISA, western blot, and fluorescent microscopy, all in the context of mammalian cells. + A high level of proficiency with many kinds of scientific software used to operate lab equipment and/or the ability to quickly master new software + Experience and proficiency with data analysis using statistical software such as Excel, Prism, Spotfire or others + Pharma/biotech drug discovery experience a plus **Physical Demands/ Travel:** The physical demands of this job are consistent with laboratory bench setting and light office duties. _The physical demands here are representative of those that must_ _be_ _met_ _by an_ _employee to_ _successfully perform the essential functions of this job._ **Work Environment:** This position’s work environment is in a laboratory-based setting. _The_ _work_ _environment_ _characteristics_ _descri_ _b_ _ed_ _here_ _are_ _representative_ _of those an em_ _p_ _loyee encounters whil_ _e_ _performing the essential_ _f_ _unctions of this job._ _*To perform this job successfully, an_ _individual_ _must be able to perform_ _the_ _role and responsibilities satisfactorily. The anticipated wage for this position is $133,500 - $217,800 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
