The Advisor Operating Costs ensures timely and accurate preparation and retention of the Liquids Pipelines (LP) general ledger. The incumbent must understand relevant accounting policies and ensure that execution is in compliance with regulatory/taxation legislation and generally accepted accounting principles.

What You Will Do:

Maintain operating cost GL for Liquids legal entities by preparing monthly journal entries, account analysis and account reconciliations.

Analyze financial results and prepare variance reports comparing actuals to budget and prior year for presentation to senior management.

Maintain knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Liaise with field staff to ensure appropriate accruals are recorded on a monthly basis.  Provide direction and guidance to ensure appropriate accounting policies are followed.

Coordinate shipper audits with team and Asset Performance.

Manage the EPCM automated allocation tool and independently troubleshoot issues.   

Prepare/assist with handling ad hoc analyses of information requests related to LP entities.

Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX 404) internal control documentation and coordination with external auditors, as it relates to this position.  Responsible for understanding key controls' design & execution and recommending changes to controls if processes change.
 

Who You Are:

Post Secondary education in accounting.

A minimum of 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in an accounting environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills complemented by excellent attention to detail.

Works well within a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Strong organizational and computer skills.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a results-oriented business approach.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
