Overview:
This position is responsible to provide direction and support to project resources to ensure successful implementations of operations that meets APL Logistics and customer expectations.
The role is responsible for a portfolio of projects within the Americas EMEA Region.
Applying the best form of project management (Standard or Agile) to meet expectations will require the position to balance project management resources with the right skills and experiences to execute against plans. There is an expectation that a body of knowledge currently exists or will be obtained through training and practice in the person taking on the role.
The base knowledge consists of project cost management, schedule management risk management, communications, scope management, resource management. All areas that require planning and control in the execution of a supply chain strategy. A portfolio tool must be kept updated and accurate to reflect the projects under this position’s leadership and guidance.
This position has direct reports, and it is responsible for the performance and professional development and career guidance of those reports. This position is also responsible to manage assigned project resources from other functional areas and vendors at local and regional level during the duration of a given project. This role reports to the Director of PMO and Customer Implementations.

Lead complex supply chain projects in a matrixed environment by partnering with subject matter experts in operations, technology, human resources, finance, legal, and other functional teams internal to APL Logistics and external with customers and additional service providers. Relationship management with operations and commercial teams to provide value in the pursuit of new opportunities or the expansion of services for existing customers. Developing commercial content; cost estimate, timelines, project structures, etc. for responses to customer proposals. The development or oversight of project timelines that demonstrate a realistic path from project initiation through go-live of services, and transition to ongoing operations. Estimation or oversight of estimations for project cost of project implementation, and can include investments in time, facility infrastructure, technology, one-time expenses, or capital. Management or oversight of cost from acceptance through project implementation with the ability to estimate variance at completion. Defining, documenting, and evaluating risks associated with a project and the creation of a risk management plan to either avoid, mitigate, or transfer risk. Project status reporting that delivers an accurate assessment of a projects health and is easily interpreted by executive leadership. Integration of project documents with external customers and service providers, so plans represent the project in total, not just the APL Logistics elements. Communications at the project team member level and the senior leadership level may require multiple communication methods. Maintain a portfolio management tool that accurately reflects the projects being worked, the overall status of each, a high-level timeline, and who is leading. This position will lead and manage cross functional teams from APLL domestic and international operations (OMS/ CT/ CLS/ CFS/ DNS/ LTS), APLL and client technology teams, client operations teams, and as well as vendor teams. This position will lead the design and development of change management programs APLL deploys as it prepares labor force, supervisors, and managers to take on new operations, system deployment, system upgrades, new technology deployment or process improvements plans. Have a working plan to fill knowledge and skill gaps that enable continuous improvement of project and portfolio management capabilities. Demonstrate continued growth in the project management discipline by creating and executing innovative approaches to the delivery of supply chain strategies. Drive organizational project management competencies by teaching, mentoring, and guiding the development paths of project managers within the portfolios span of responsibility. The typical starting salary range for this position is: $100,000 - $111,330.
The actual salary offer will take into account multiple factors including skills, experience, and location. Please note that the salary details listed in role postings reflect the base salary only, not total compensation, which includes bonus and benefits.
