Advanced Video Engineer IV

Do you have the skills needed to maintain an enhance Spectrum’s advanced video and signal processing systems? As an Advanced Video Engineer IV, you will design, document, implement, and troubleshoot systems in our Video organization. You will work closely with associated SE, AE and IT teams, vendor operations staff and internal operations staff on system design and configuration. 


WHAT OUR VIDEO ENGINEERS ENJOY THE MOST

Understand the principles of design and solutions improvement, convert high level designs into production ready implementation plans, develop monitoring solutions, detailed analysis of Ticket information, Tier IV escalation activities, and train others in technologies and solutions.Deep dive of Root Cause Analysis of outages and events which includes (but not limited to) working with vendors, support center management and update information in a RCA summary of the outage or event.Work closely with Architects and Engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing break/Fix tools and procedures of new and old technologies.Document project requirements including scope, level of effort, schedule, testing and terms of delivery to ensure project is completed with highest level of quality on time.  Research and identify technology opportunities and their application to the business.  Stage and validate new hardware and software for proper configuration and performance.  Lead a group of junior and peer engineers to resolve solution performance issues. 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

Experience:

Six (6+) years Video and CDN Engineering, Support  

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, related field or equivalent work experience   

Technical Skills:

Specialized skillset in video transport delivery of MPEG2, MPEG4, HEVC H.264 and H.265.

Strong Knowledge in Digital Headend and CPE Control Systems, Encryption Technologies, Session Resource and Mgmt Systems, Back Office environments and interfaces. 

Effective troubleshooter of video processing and delivery systems. 

Systems knowledge (Linux, Unix, Encoders, Video delivery, control and back office systems).

Infrastructure knowledge (Raw Iron, Steel Cloud, ElasticCloud, OpenStack, AWS, DRM).

In-depth knowledge in areas of specialty for specific applications, and general knowledge of supporting or integrating applications creating platform ecosystems. 

Advanced IP networking knowledge, TCP/IP protocols, Routing, Switching, SNMP, ARP etc.  

Expert knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support current operations. 

Expert knowledge of software designing software, such as Visio.

Knowledge of Operating systems, Video Delivery and Control equipment and video monitoring systems. 

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Effective writing and communication skills, able to package complex information in an easy to understand way. 

Ability to use personal computer and software applications. 

Ability to work in a team environment.

Expert ability to perform MPEG analysis and effectively communicate data analysis results to leadership and group environments (verbal and written). 

Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace 24x7support environment and ability to learn new technology quickly. 

Ability to use the following office equipment: telephone, copier, fax, and calculator. 

Ability to use personal computer and software applications.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office.   

Working Conditions:

Office Environment. 

May work in Lab or Data Center/Implementation Facility environment.

24X7 Video Support Operations environment. 

Occasional travel as required.

On-Call as needed.

Preferred Education

CCNA/CCNP  SCTE DVEP  Linux  Unix  Oracle  Splunk  Linux, Unix, or other system administration certification are helpful 

Preferred Related Work Experience

Knowledge of company products and services.  Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting video delivery or video applications. Hands on operational experience in performing video devices or systems upgrades, and Break/Fix activities.  Experience with internal or external direct customer contact in a technical environment—Technical, Hub, Headend, VOD or Controller Operations, background within an MSO or vendor network environment.

The base pay for this position generally is between $88,200.00 and $156,600.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
