In coordination with the pharmacy team, the Nurse Clinical Expert will act as the subject matter expert in all aspects of clinical care for select specialty medications. The ATR Nurse Specialist will provide disease state and medication guidance to internal clinicians and patients as needed for excellent clinical outcomes. Nurse Clinical Expert success will be measured by completing appropriate interventions to promote therapy effectiveness and satisfaction evidenced by discharge rates for dissatisfaction. **Job Description:** ​ Job Responsibilities + Initiates outreach to the assigned Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for providing treatment prior to each new patient starting therapy. + Conducts a comprehensive case review with the RN to ensure understanding of the patient’s clinical background, treatment plan, and therapy requirements. + Assesses the RN’s clinical readiness and competency specific to the therapy being initiated, confirming necessary clinical acumen and prior experience. + Provides targeted training or educational resources as needed to support the RN in delivering safe and effective therapy. + Identifies and addresses unique patient needs, including social, behavioral, or logistical considerations, to ensure a seamless treatment experience. + Coordinates closely with the interdisciplinary ATR Team, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals, to: + Promote seamless care transitions and therapy initiation. Ensure therapy knowledge is consistently shared and reinforced across team members. Support medication adherence strategies and patient education efforts. Assist with clinical interventions as appropriate, including monitoring therapy tolerance, managing side effects, and addressing therapy-related issues in collaboration with clinical staff as well as the prescribing provider. Optimize patient satisfaction and engagement. Monitor and communicate relevant clinical outcomes or response to therapy to the care team Monitor and communicate relevant clinical outcomes or response to therapy + Communicates and collaborates with manufacturer representatives who support patient care and access services (e.g., nurse educators, reimbursement support, field access specialists), to: + ​Facilitate resolution of access or reimbursement issues. + Ensure timely enrollment into manufacturer-sponsored support programs, if applicable. + Coordinate additional education or resources available through the manufacturer to support patients and clinical staff. + Participate in routine check-ins, touchpoints, and quarterly business reviews (QBRs) to align on trends, challenges, and opportunities related to patient support and therapy outcomes. + Documents all coordination efforts and clinical training provided, ensuring alignment with internal protocols and regulatory standards. + Maintain and continue disease state and medication knowledge ensuring any updates or changes are communicated to the appropriate internal and external teams. This includes learning from manufacturers, key opinion leader prescribers, other subject matter experts, etc. + Assists in developing related SOPs, workflows, training resources, clinical documentation, and project plans for identified product(s). + Special clinical project completion such as satisfaction surveys, data collection and reporting, discharge patient outreach, etc. + Assist with maintenance of available therapy and training resources on OCHO. Conduct recorded and/or virtual internal training sessions as needed. Ensure field clinicians making patient visits have completed necessary training and are comfortable with the disease state education and medication administration. + Handle resolution of escalations from patients, prescribers, manufacturers, and internal team members. + Assist in coordination of patient travel arrangements for dispense/nurse visits in the travel location. Complete any training necessary with clinical staff at travel location prior to dispense/visits. + Manage all adverse event reporting to manufacturer. Obtain reports from internal event management system to ensure all events are reported as contracted by manufacturer. Perform outreach as needed to patient/OCH clinician/patient for additional information needed for event. Complete AE reconciliation as contracted by manufacturer. Supervisory Responsibilities: NO Basic Education and/or Experience Requirements: + High School Diploma or equivalent is required + Registered Nurse licensure required in compact licensure state + At least 1 year of experience in home infusion or home healthcare in a similar role with external facing responsibilities. Basic Qualifications & Interests (BQIs) + Must be detail-oriented and have a high degree of customer service focus. + Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills. + Ability to work independently, problem solve and collaborate with cross-functional team members and leadership across all levels of the organization. + Proficient computer skills that include the ability to effectively use the Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Travel Requirements (if required) + Some Travel. Up to 25%. Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs) + At least one year of specialty pharmacy, home infusion, home care, inpatient experience. + Multi-state licensure + Ideally located in Chicago area with licensure also in a compact state Physical Demand Requirements + Must be able to work on a personal computer or laptop computer for extended periods of time. Due to state pay transparency laws, the full range for the position is below: Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
