We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious student to join our R&D team for summer 2026! As the Chemistry Advanced Packaging Materials intern, you will support progression of a research project related to evaluation of plant-based proteins and starches as packaging materials. The project would involve development of experimental prototypes for performance in barrier coatings applications. This work will also give you the opportunity to prepare modified starch prototypes, characterize experimental prototypes, and evaluate prototypes in formulations!
What you will do:
Conduct searches on prior art (literature, patents), and current technology including competitive activity on related projects, and summarizing the outcomes in appropriate reportPerform laboratory experiments, conduct data analysis and interpret results to make recommendations to project team and support the projectCoordinate, summarize and report data generated from these experimentsRecord data in the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and other archiving databases as appropriate; effectively communicating results to project teams and partnersPresent research findings to management with recommendations for future New Product Development or Applied Research projects at completion of internship periodWhat you will bring:
Familiarity with working in a chemistry or biochemistry lab setting while adhering to lab safety requirementsSuccessful progress towards Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Food science, Chemical Engineering or related field with laboratory research experienceExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical reportsWho you are:
