Advanced Materials Planner
**Job Summary: Materials Planner** The NPI (New Product Introduction) Materials Planner plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth transition and flow of materials and components throughout the supply chain during product launches, engineering changes, and supplier transitions. This role is responsible for minimizing excess inventory, managing obsolescence, and coordinating with key departments including Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain. The planner will lead all supply chain-related activities and deliverables associated with new product introductions and changes, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely, cost-effective, and risk-mitigated implementation. **Key Responsibilities** + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute phase-in/phase-out strategies that maintain safety, quality, cost, delivery, and inventory standards while minimizing material excess and obsolescence. + Act as the primary supply chain point of contact for new supplier development and impact analysis. + Manage inventory by analyzing material requirements, comparing BOMs, and reviewing lead times and minimum order quantities. + Work with internal teams to forecast material needs based on production schedules and anticipated changes. + Prepare and maintain detailed reports on inventory levels, usage, discrepancies, and adjustments. + Identify and address discrepancies in inventory records and resolve issues related to material flow. + Assess supply chain risks related to new product introductions and develop mitigation strategies for issues such as supplier delays or logistical constraints. **Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience. + 2–3 years of experience in materials planning, logistics, or production planning in a manufacturing environment. + Proficiency in MRP systems such as AS400 (Mapics), JDE, or SAP (preferred). + Strong understanding of production scheduling, material handling, warehouse operations, and inventory management. + Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; proficiency in Word and PowerPoint. + Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with a collaborative and professional approach. + Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and work across teams. **Physical Requirements** The role requires regular use of a computer and phone, with frequent walking, standing, and sitting. Visual acuity for computer work is necessary.
