How will you make a difference?

In this role you will be responsible for developing Concepts, Design Requirements, and perform Simulink Control Model Implementation for Battery Management or Propulsion System applications for locomotives and Off Highway vehicle Electric Drive Systems. You will work closely with a team of Sub-System Engineers, Software Engineers, Control Architects and Testers.

What do we want to know about you?

Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Software Engineering or other technical disciplines

Minimum 7 years software requirement development experience

Minimum 7 years model-based controls design and testing experience in MATLAB/Simulink

Minimum 7 years controls development experience within a formal Engineering Phase gate process

Working knowledge/familiarity with embedded BMS or inverter controls

What will your typical day look like?

Develop and present control model architecture concepts meeting functional and interface needs

Develop and present control model concepts meeting functional needs utilizing existing architecture interfaces

Develop and document Control Software requirements compliant to INCOSE Requirement writing Guidelines (Requirements Manager role)

Document unit/component model implementation details

Implement Mathworks Simulink and Stateflow control models based on requirements (Developer / Implementor role)

Define and execute unit/component or BlackBox level sanity testing utilizing Software in the loop (SiL), or HW in the Loop (HitL), or system test platforms

Utilize formal software lifecycle change record system as required throughout development lifecycle in creation and advancement of software change records

Check in of control models to formal Configuration Management System (Perforce)

Develop and execute Functional Black box Test Cases to assigned requirement sets

Act as critical reviewer of Functional Black box validation Test Case reviews of Implementation performed by peers

Act as presenter in formal Technical Design Review’s

Track, manage, and report status of development & validation efforts to various levels of the organization.

Identify and escalate emerging issues and offer possible mitigations/next steps

What about the physical demands of the job?

Ability and willingness to work "hands-on" in test labs and on locomotives or off-highway trucks with high HP (1000 KVA), medium voltage (2 KV) and high current (10 KA) systems.

Ability and willingness to perform on Locomotive validation and troubleshooting

Ability and willingness to wear PPE4 on occasion as required while performing Locomotive or Lab procedures when necessary

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between

$67,400.00-$96,000.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include an annual bonus, if eligible.
