Position Summary
The Advanced Launch Management Lead will act as the program purchasing lead and the voice of global supply chain management within the program team. This position will be responsible for maintaining financial ownership for the entire Bill of materials in the Advanced launch Phase, working closely with Beijing buyers and Global Commodity Managers to ensure parts are sourced on time while meeting the program budget, initiating the APQP process in conjunction with the Supplier Development Organization and work ensure APQP deliverables are being executed in accordance with the overall program timeline, and providing support to Beijing plant GSM.
Key Accountabilities
Development of cost estimates with detailed drawings and /or limited concepts with high confidence to meet Program Team’s expectationsMaintain overall accountability for estimates submittedBuild estimations from the ground up based upon knowledge of manufacturing processes and commodities to include cost development for raw materials, machining rates, and other processing costs to ensure consistent accuracy if work.Responsible for holding program kickoff reviews with the rest of the GSM Team to outline key program deliverablesReport status of current production leverage opportunities, sourcing plans, carryover parts/ capacity, and raw material economic exposureWork to identify and execute improvement opportunities when budget overages exist in the bill off materialsManage launch reports, cost walks, and one paper summariesParticipate in cross functional teams, including Program management, Supplier Development, and Beijing teamsResponsible for the sourcing new components that are not included in existing commodity strategyResponsible for holding launch readiness reviews with the entire cross functional team, which would include identifying issues, assigning tasks and drive accountabilityResponsible for managing supplier toolingManage a smooth transition from Advanced launch phase to production phase by ensuring Beijing buyer team is full supportedResponsible for supporting BorgWarner’s new technology products by identifying and driving new supplier technologyResponsible for driving early supplier onboarding for new programs.Exhibit overall discipline within GSM functionQualifications & Requirements
8-10 years of purchasing or program management experience working in an automotive production/Purchasing/GSM environment5 years’ minimum estimating experience working in an automotive production /manufacturing environmentProgram management skillsTeam leader skillsCritical analysis skillsExcellent negotiation skillsStrong interpersonal skills-Position interacts with all levels of BorgWarner/Supply managementMust be self-motivated/directedRequires minimal management input to achieve objectivesCPM /CPSM certification preferredKey Competencies:
