Position Summary Provide lead role in the technological aspects of animal and human imaging research projects and provide expertise in research application using MRI and CT. Work with researchers on advancing technologies and innovative imaging techniques using both software and hardware developments. Perform clinical imaging with high and low field MRI , helical and cone beam CT on animal patients. The technologist is primarily responsible for development of protocols based on discussion with the researcher. The Advanced Imaging Technologist- MRI will provide service to the clinical animal advanced imaging section (CT, MRI and PET /CT)while assisting with technological aspects of clinical animal MRI , computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography( PET /CT) imaging. Supporting animal and human imaging research projects is expected. This includes overseeing advanced imaging facility and equipment function, QA/QC, and applications training. The technologist is primarily responsible for development of protocols based on discussion with the researcher. They are responsible for scheduling of procedures in order to avoid conflicts with clinical patients and to keep various clinicians, radiologists and researchers informed of the imaging schedule. Perform advanced imaging exams ordered by clinicians on veterinary patients. Participate in nuclear medicine, and radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging studies as needed to support clinical cases and research. The Technologist also has an important role in educating faculty, staff, and students in the proper and safe use of the MRI and CT/ PET equipment, radiation safety, in conducting CT and PET -CT and nuclear medicine studies, and in uses of CT, PET /CT, and MRI for research. Required Job Qualifications + Associates degree in Radiologic Technology + OR High school diploma plus six years of advanced imaging experience. + OR Bachelor’s degree in a health, life science, or related field plus two years of advanced imaging experience + Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ( ARRT ) (MR) certification and/or (CT) with a member in good standing status + Good computer skills and familiarity with networking, PC-based database and spreadsheet programs, word processing, and image-viewing software Preferred Job Qualifications + Masters degree in a health, life science, or related field + CT or MRI ARRT certification + Additional post-primary ARRT certification in nuclear medicine and/or PET /CT is highly desired. + Previous experience with MRI , multi-slice CT, PET /CT, and/or Nuclear medicine + Previous experience in a veterinary medical setting + Project management experience + Experience working in digital imaging, RIS / PACS environment Large group PC-based presentation skills + Demonstrated history of working well in a team environment + Strong oral and written communication skills + Strong interpersonal skills working with personnel at all levels in a hospital setting (faculty, administration, staff, clinicians, and trainees) + Experience with radiopharmaceutical handling, patient injection, radiation safety protocols, and monitoring. + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are highly desired. Percentage Of Time80% Job Duty CategoryProtocols and Procedures Duty/Responsibility + Ensure daily communication with the imaging unit and share TMI imaging schedule with VHS imaging core across facilities and between all stakeholders, including anesthesia. + Develop new protocols and procedures in advanced imaging to optimize animal imaging for clinical and research applications based upon the stated objectives of the clinicians and researchers with minimal oversight from radiologists + Manage imaging databases and data from animal studies + Maintain/oversee proper care and sanitation of the advanced imaging suites + Maintain programs of advanced imaging quality assurance and quality control + Oversee the maintenance and repair of advanced imaging equipment as well as identify and investigate maintenance and service contracts as approved by the Service and Section Chiefs + Identify vendors and assist in the negotiation of major equipment purchases + Monitor inventory on a monthly/yearly basis, and investigate best prices + Aid in the conduct of prospective research and retrospective case studies, including participation in the literature review, data collection and manuscript preparation for publications and grants + Manage, organize, coordinate and assist with cost accounting in research projects.
