Job Title: Advanced Draughtsperson

Purpose of Role: To generate 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings of mechanical equipment for the minerals industry in accordance with international and industry specifications. To generate and compile all design documentation as required by ISO 9001 and other relevant standards. To effectively create clear, legible drawings, both fabrication and assembly, in accordance with client requirements and design criteria.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical: Interpret technical drawings; create GA and 2D manufacturing drawings for non-standard designs per Weir standards; meet project deadlines; develop 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using Siemens NX; check manufacturing and contract drawings; execute tasks in Global Product Data Management (GPDM) in accordance with Weir Minerals Division GPDM requirements with minimal supervision; align with relevant design standards; uphold HSE and housekeeping protocols.Engineering Support: Travel to sites for measurements and design solutions; visit Isando and Alrode facilities for training and troubleshooting; support the assembly line.Communication & Mentorship: Engage with internal customers regarding Engineering Drawing Request (EDR) progress, deadlines, and design queries; advise internal and sales teams on optimal design solutions; mentor Trainee Draughtspersons.Administration & IP Management: Safeguard Intellectual Property in line with Weir requirements; assist with printing and issuing of drawings and electronic CAD data following drawing control procedures.Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.


Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

Matric and N6 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.5 Years’ experience as a draughtsperson in a manufacturing, mechanical, mining, energy or mineral process equipment environment.Computer skills: 3D CAD, Siemens NX, AutoCAD, SAP, MS Office, Team Center.Proficient in reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and manuals; capable of writing reports; skilled in calculations involving proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and basic algebra/geometry.
