Job Summary:

The APP is an independent health care provider who coordinates inpatient care through collaboration with the Physician, for Critical Care patients. The PA or APN provides care in accordance with the objectives policies and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee. This role is for ICU.

Job Requirements (APN/NP):

Acute care certification preferred1-2 years acute care hospital experience preferredCurrent APN or PA LicenseNP CertificationRN License (if APN)Current NJ state license, CDS and DEACurrent BLS/ACLS required

Essential Functions:

Demonstrates an ability to organize and achieve quality performance in new routineDemonstrates effectiveness in coordinating aspects of patient care within a critical care environmentPerforms admission assessments and appropriate treatment for patientsRounds daily with attending physician on unitPerforms appropriate interpretation of laboratory/diagnostic testingPerforms bedside procedures such as central lines, arterial lines, etc.Demonstrates strong organizational skills, communicates effectively and demonstrates time managementPerforms duties with minimal supervision and coordinates care with the physician, case managers, and other consulting providers.Demonstrates effective communication, organizational, and time management skills.Implements the policies and procedures of the practicePerforms assessment and reassessment of the patient according to applicable department standards and identified toolsThe ability to compassionately interact with patients across different areas of careRecognizes areas for improvement in policies or patient care, initiates change and educates all involved in changeRegularly communicates with nursing leadership and staff concerning patient care issuesThoroughly explains procedures to patients prior to testingProvides appropriate patient teaching as necessary
