The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 11 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies, and the RELLIS Campus. Job Description Summary:
The Admissions Coordinator I, in collaboration with Texas A&M University System institutions and agencies, and Blinn College, initiates and supports activities to recruit and enroll students in the academic programs offered at the RELLIS Campus and promotes a positive image of The Texas A&M University System and its partners at the RELLIS Campus. This position will help maintain awareness of the changing characteristics and needs of potential students. The RELLIS Academic Admissions Coordinator I must maintain a strong collaborative relationship with system member institutions and agencies offering degrees and workforce training programs on the RELLIS Campus.
Responsibilities:- Identify, recruit, and contribute to increasing the population of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented students.- Present information in group and individual settings for potential students on academics, admission process, financial aid programs, and career issues.- Conduct tours as well as coordinate campus visits for prospective students and families.- Design, organize and facilitate recruiting programs and marketing strategies targeting public schools and colleges.- Assist with orientation sessions, special events, and student activities as needed.- Serve as primary contact with community organizations, local businesses, public school systems, prospective students, parents, counselors, and other entities for promoting academic programs.- Prepare and edit reports for prospects, applicants, and events- Remain current regarding THECB guidelines to correctly inform students regarding the requirements.- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- At least one year of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Knowledge of recruitment functions of higher education.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of college/university application process, financial aid. scholarships and student services. - Ability to present oneself in a professional manner as a representative of the Texas A&M University System and its academic partner institutions. - Ability to use social media platforms and web conference software.
- Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.- Travel required.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Two years of experience in undergraduate recruiting and admissions, student life or appropriate college/university setting.
- Memberships in good standing with the Texas Association of College Admission Counseling (TACAC), and/or Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (TACRAO).
- Bilingual (Spanish).
