Job Description
The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, visitors, volunteers and people in our custody. Importantly, safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7,500 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts.
The New York City Department of Correction has a unique opportunity for an experienced Administrative Support candidate to support the Deputy Commissioner of Facilities and Fleet Administration. The qualified candidate will be reporting directly to the Deputy Commissioner. Under executive direction and with latitude for decision-making, the selected candidate will manage a wide range of administrative duties and executive support related tasks. Typical duties include but is not limited to:
- Assists the Deputy Commissioner in preparation for meetings and daily briefings
- Prepares confidential and sensitive documents, correspondence and/or publication materials
- Compiling information and preparing reports
- Coordinates the daily schedule of the Deputy Commissioner
- Responds to internal and external requests for information
- Manages the Deputy Commissioner’s calendar by preparing meeting agendas and coordinating meetings
- Responds and organizes incoming and outgoing electronic and written inquiries
- Maintains confidential files, documents and records
- Answers telephones, screening calls and/or emails
- Performs general office duties such as sorting mail, filing, making copies, faxing, and ordering office supplies
- Provides assistance during project planning, development, and implementation
- Assists with the preparation of presentation material, reviewing reports and documents
- Interacts with executive staff as well as all levels of management and employees
- Performing related duties as assigned.

- Ability to communicate highly complex information clearly and succinctly, both orally and in writing
- Ability to adapt to rapid change, multi-task, and meet restrictive deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as, strong listening skills
- Experience communicating and collaborating with uniformed members of staff

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Salary Min: $ 62,868.00
Salary Max: $ 97,593.00
