Administrative Supervisor - Defiance Regional Hospital - Nursing Administration - Full Time - Nights
Coordinates the overall activities of patient care areas and hospital departments on the assigned shift. Provides resource assistance and guidance to nursing personal regarding patient care, established policies, procedures, and standards. Collaborates with beds & access and staffing/scheduling for resource allocation ensuring that each assigned area has the resources necessary to maintain a safe patient care environment. The supervisor contacts the administrator on call for direction with critical problems or concerns. ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Leadership Support and Communication: • Provides leadership support for all departments and serves as communicating link between department specific leaders and employees when leadership is not on duty. • Coordinate departmental activities and make critical decisions in collaboration with beds & access, staffing/scheduling, administration, departmental directors and managers, risk management, legal, security, and corporate communications. • Address and resolve issues related to supply chain, equipment, food, medications, environment of care, IT, and patient/family complaints. • Schedule diagnostic testing, add-on, and emergency surgical procedures when specific departments are closed and notify the surgical call team as needed. • Conduct consistent shift rounding in hospital departments. 2. Patient Flow Management: • Facilitate and expedite patient flow throughout the hospital in conjunction with Capacity Management and relevant hospital departments. 3. Staff and Customer Relations: • Promote positive interactions with staff, patients, families, and providers. • Initiate service recovery as appropriate to enhance patient and family satisfaction. 4. Knowledge and Compliance: • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical and administrative issues, regulatory requirements, compliance, policies, and procedures. 5. Disaster and Emergency Response: • Serve as disaster commander until the appropriate designee arrives. • Take an active role in all facility codes and emergency situations. 6. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the facility's operations and objectives. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university or currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing program with degree completion within two years. Skills: Excellent communication including conflict management, problem-solving, and decision making skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Strong knowledge of hospital operations, regulatory compliance, and emergency management. Years of Experience: Minimum of 3 years clinical experience required and/or similar type of leadership role. License: Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of employment. Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) & Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: Demonstrates knowledge and use of standard precautions and PPE. Demonstrates knowledge and use of safe patient handling equipment. Physical Demands: Must be able to move about the hospital and between workstations; and prolonged periods of standing.
