About this Job
The Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory is a part of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. Since its inception in 1937, the Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory has been committed to providing the highest quality of professional forensic services to the State of Louisiana. This commitment includes applying sound scientific principles in all analyses, being responsive to our customers, conducting our operations in a fair and objective manner, and being a leader in advancing forensic science.
The mission of the laboratory is to assist local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in Louisiana in the investigation of criminal activity by providing accurate and timely scientific analysis of physical evidence and reporting the results of those analyses to appropriate entities in the criminal justice community. Forensic scientists at the laboratory perform scientific examinations of evidence and can provide assistance in the actual collection of evidence at crime scenes when requested.
Laboratory personnel also provide expert testimony in criminal court on their findings when requested. Analyses performed at the laboratory are often the definitive factor in proving the guilt or innocence of persons charged with criminal acts.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
-Coordinates and maintains the specialized computer program for Sexual Assault Kit Tracking to include procurement, end user management and maintenance, and auditing.
-Prepares, monitors, and analyzes the business units annual budget with LSPCL Administration (personnel, logistical support, equipment/supplies, contract costs, income, etc.)
-Prepares, edits, tabulates, and revises statistical information regarding LSPCL Operations budget.
-Creates and maintains receipts for payment of invoices through LaCarte or LaGov
-Assists with special projects delegated by the Supervisor, deputy director, or director of the lab.
-Oversees payroll operations for the ECU and Crime Lab units, ensuring that entries are correct and timely.

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment
Career Progression:This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group
Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. It can range anywhere from $37,523 up to a maximum of $73, 632.
