About the Role:
Network Recruitment Wales is excited to present a fantastic opportunity for an Administrative Assistant/Officer to join a dedicated team in Newport for a 12-week temporary project starting 23 June 2025. This role is perfect for someone looking for a short-term contract over the summer, providing essential clerical and administrative support to the Housing Needs Unit. You’ll be a key point of contact for internal and external partners, assisting with homelessness prevention enquiries and ensuring smooth operations with a customer-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the first point of contact for internal and external partners, including colleagues, social housing providers, and third-sector organisations, offering advice on homelessness and prevention.Perform reception duties, meeting and greeting visitors and guiding them to their destinations or meetings.Administer the common housing register and assess housing needs in line with current policies and procedures.Support the team leader with clerical tasks, including handling enquiries related to funerals and memorials.Process payments for services, issue receipts, and maintain accurate records in compliance with financial regulations.Build and maintain effective relationships with partners such as funeral directors, officiants, and suppliers.Undertake general administrative tasks, ensuring workloads are organised and completed to agreed standards.Demonstrate a sympathetic and understanding attitude towards customers, particularly those who are bereaved.What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications: Minimum of 5 GCSEs (A-C), NVQ Level 2, or equivalent relevant experience.Experience: At least two years of experience dealing directly with customers and partners, with strong verbal and written communication skills.Skills: Proficient in Windows-based software (e.g., Microsoft Office) with good literacy and numeracy skills. Ability to plan and organise workloads effectively.Attributes: A team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving, able to show empathy and sensitivity, particularly towards bereaved individuals.Desirable: Willingness to undertake first aid training and/or working towards an ICCM Crematorium Certificate.Requirement: Familiarity with Microsoft packages is essential. A housing background is not required.Candidate Requirements:
