**Employment Type:** Part time **Shift:** **Description:** St. Joseph’s College of Nursing invites applications for Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduate Microbiology lecture and lab sections. These courses serve nursing and allied health students and emphasize clinically relevant microbiology, infection control, public health perspectives, and laboratory safety. **Position Purpose** St. Joseph’s College of (SJCON) offers a single purpose, hospital-based, Associate in Applied Science Degree with a major in Nursing. SJCON offers several program options: 1) the traditional weekday format that follows an academic calendar over a two-year timeframe, 2) the Dual Degree Partnership in Nursing (DDPN) option, the Evening/Weekend (E/WE) option, in which students attend on alternating weekends and one evening per week for 18 months; and 4) the accelerated evening/weekend (ADDPN) option that is offered in the same 18-month timeframe to allow students with a BA or BS degree in another field to pursue both an Associate and Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Both options offer a dual degree pathway established through a partnership with Le Moyne College (LMC). The college is accredited by the Accreditation Commission of Education in Nursing, and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. As an Adjunct Professor for Microbiology, you will help develop and teach a new course using active learning strategies designed to foster a deep understanding of key concepts that directly support nursing practice. The lab component will follow a flipped classroom model, where students engage with foundational content via virtual resources and apply their learning during in-person lab sessions. The lecture component may be delivered in either a flipped or traditional format, with opportunities for interactive engagement. We encourage participation and support community programs and outreach. • Work/Life: Follow academic scheduling to balance work/life/school and recreational calendars. **What You Will Do** + Develop, coordinate, and facilitate the delivery of Microbiology lecture and lab instruction for nursing and allied health students. + Collaborate with an instructional designer to develop the course aligned to best-practices in adult learning and online education based on Quality Matters standards. + Contribute to curriculum development, evaluation, and revision through collaboration with faculty and participation in departmental initiatives. + Maintain the prescribed adjunct faculty workload, including instructional responsibilities, student communication, and participation in course-level planning. + Support student learning through effective use of instructional technologies, including Canvas and digital lab platforms. + Stay current with trends in microbiology, public health, and infection control, and apply this knowledge to enhance course relevance and student engagement. + Recognize and respond to student learning needs, providing timely feedback and academic support. + Serve as a mentor, educator, and collaborator in fostering student success and professional development. **Minimum Qualifications** + Master’s degree in biology, Microbiology, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate credits in the discipline (official transcripts required upon hire). + Demonstrated ability to teach at the college level. + Proficiency with learning management systems (Canvas preferred) and instructional technology. + Strong communication and organizational skills. **Preferred Qualifications** + Master’s degree specifically in Microbiology. + Prior experience teaching both lecture and lab at the college level. + Demonstrated experience developing and teaching courses using best practices in adult learning principles and online education. + Experience working with nursing or allied health student populations. + Familiarity with hybrid/online instruction and inclusive teaching practices. **Work Schedule & Modality** + Courses may be scheduled during daytime or evening hours on weekdays. + Primary modality is face-to-face instruction, with select lab components potentially delivered using virtual resources. **Career Path:** • Career advancement to full time faculty. **Special Equipment, Skills and Other Requirements:** • The faculty member must have the ability to develop, implement and evaluate classes and lab experiences for nursing students based on a curriculum.
