**Job Summary and Qualifications**
This position is responsible for facilitation of learning for nursing students throughout all clinical components of an academic nursing program. Academic programs include Associate of Applied Science and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees for both first- and second-year students. This includes facilitating learning in a clinical setting; appropriate use of assessment and evaluation strategies to ensure student learning; facilitate learner development and socialization in the clinical setting to promote professional behaviors and skills appropriate for the student academic level ensuring students adhere to Mission Health guidelines and policies, as well as NC Board of Nursing pre-licensure, and associated academic nursing program policies.
**What qualifications you will need:**
Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (Associate Degree Academic Program Assignment)
Required
Master of Science in Nursing Education (Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Academic Program Assignment)
Required
Master of Science in Nursing Education
Preferred
Two-years’ patient care experience within the past five years as a registered nurse
Required
One-year experience in specialty area of instruction if applicable (OB, Peds, etc.)
Preferred
Clinical teaching experience at the college level.

**Important:** Per NCBON rules – prior to or within the first 3 years of employment, have preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to assignment. Per NCBON rules, this preparation may be demonstrated by one of the following:
+ Completion of 45 contact hours of continuing education courses (approved by NCBON)
+ Completion of a certificate program in nursing education,
+ Nine semester hours of education coursework,
+ National certification in nursing education (Certified Nurse Educator from NLN); or
+ Documentation of successful completion of structured, individualized development activities of at least 45 contract hours approved by the Board. Criteria for approval include content in the faculty role within the curriculum implementation, objectives to be met and evaluated, review of strategies for identified student population and expectations of student and faculty performance.
