Position Information **Position/Rank** Adjunct Associate Professor or Professor (part-time), Strategic Adjunct Faculty Engagement Program (SAFEP) **Department** 00847 - Hematology **City** Other **Track** Non Tenure Track **New Position to Begin** upon hire **Details** The Division of Hematology & Hematologic Malignancies at the University of Utah is recruiting distinguished faculty members through the Strategic Adjunct Faculty Engagement Program ( SAFEP ). This program is designed to establish formal, part-time adjunct appointments with nationally or internationally recognized Associate Professor and Professor faculty from other academic institutions. Through mentorship, research collaboration, and engagement in divisional activities, adjunct faculty will help strengthen the Division’s academic and research missions. **Qualifications:** Candidates must: + Hold a current faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at an academic institution. + Possess and MD, PhD, or equivalent degree. + Have a proven track record of mentoring and sponsorship. + Receive permission from their home institution to accept the adjunct appointment. + Have national or international recognition in their field of expertise. **Responsibilities:** Adjunct faculty appointed through SAFEP willl: 1. **Mentor** one or two Junior faculty members at the University of Utah, meeting at least monthly to provide academic guidance, career development, and professional networking. 2. **Sponsor** Utah faculty for leadership roles, awards, and speaking opportunities to elevate their professional visibility. 3. **Collaborate on research** , including submission of a grant proposal and/or clinical trial with a faculty member of the Division. 4. Use the **University of Utah adjunct title** in their formal communications (e.g., email signature blocks). 5. **Spend two weeks (10 working days) per year** in person on the University of Utah campus participating in teaching, mentoring, research development, and divisional activities, including the **Annual Division Retreat** each fall. **Compensation and Support:** + **Stipend:** Provided based on rank and level of engagement **.** + **Research funds: Funding available to support collaborative** research projects, particularly those involving mentees. + **Travel Support:** Travel and accommodation expenses for the required annual visit and Division retreat are fully covered. **Program Impact:** The SAFEP initiative aims to build enduring academic partnerships that enhance national and international visibility.
