Additive Technology Engineer

You will execute the design, analysis, testing, and integration required for assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to BH’s business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements. In this role, you will lead the creation, evaluation, and implementation of comprehensive end-to-end manufacturing solutions for key design features in BH products. You ensure that these solutions meet critical performance criteria—including product quality, cost-efficiency, yield, capacity, schedule, and environmental impact—while driving innovation in additive manufacturing processes.

The Additive Technology Engineer (ATE) leads the creation, evaluation, and implementation of comprehensive end-to-end manufacturing solutions for key design features in BH products. This role ensures that manufacturing solutions meet key performance criteria, including product quality, cost-efficiency, yield, capacity, schedule, and environmental impact. The ATE is a crucial technical leader, responsible for driving innovation in additive manufacturing processes while collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers to meet strategic business goals.

As an Additive Technology Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Lead the development and improvement of additive manufacturing processes for new and existing components.Ensure manufacturing solutions are scalable and meet BH's design, quality, and operational standards.Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to project teams, supporting the technical development of junior engineers.Develop, validate, and document manufacturing processes, ensuring all parameters, consumables, and secondary operations align with product specifications.Collaborate with Global Supply Managers and BH suppliers to align on manufacturing development strategies with clear goals, schedules, and expectations.Communicate progress, issues, and technical findings to cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between design requirements and manufacturing capabilities.Identify and implement appropriate fabrication equipment and processes to meet design and operational requirements.Participate in technical and program reviews, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.Contribute to broader organizational initiatives and generic issues to support long-term business objectives.

To be successful in this role you will:

Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).2+ years of experience with CAD and CAM tools for build preparation in support of metal 3D printed component production.2+ years of experience in mechanical product development, manufacturing engineering, tooling engineering, high-precision fabrication, or related roles.1+ years of experience with topology optimization tools applied to metal components.Strong background in heat transfer design, particularly for heat exchangers or gas turbine components.Proficiency in applying hands-on engineering methods and problem-solving techniques.Expertise in Design of Experiments (DOE), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and Statistical Process Control (SPC).Experience in additive design software for manufacturability, CAD/FEM design tools, and additive manufacturing processes (excluding powder bed), with a focus on turbomachinery design.Experience with post-processing techniques, including milling, tumble finishing, heat treatment, and workshop operations.Strong communication skills, able to provide timely updates and lead discussions on process development and technical challenges.
