The Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer (m/f/d) is part of the Global Mechanical Systems Capability function.

The Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer (m/f/d) shall create engineering solutions that satisfy functional and physical requirements at Product System and Sub-System level. Crucially, the engineered solutions must exhibit robustness for manufacturing capability. Investigation and exploration of innovative design concepts using Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles is a key activity in this role. The position will be part of an Additive Manufacturing Design Team to support applications across the whole aeroengine architecture within the global RR organization. 

The Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer (m/f/d) is responsible for the on-time delivery and quality of component design definition artefacts i.e. documents, models, definitions that meet system level and sub-system requirements. The Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer will operate in accordance with applicable Rolls-Royce Management System (RRMS) policies and processes.

The Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer (m/f/d) is responsible for sub-system integration of the technical activities for their design solutions and enabling lifecycle profitability through the Supply Chain Design.

The position offers the opportunity to further develop your skills in the field of additive manufacturing design in an innovative environment and closely linked to current and future aeroengine programs within RR.

Key Accountabilities​:

Develop robust design solutions that consider manufacturability, safety, weight, lifecycle costs, maintainability, and reparability.Translate system requirements into technical drawings, models, and documentation in accordance with internal guidelines (e.g., Model-Based Definition).Re-design conventionally manufactured components into additive manufacturing solutions using advanced design and optimization software.Collaborate closely with manufacturing, analysis teams, suppliers, and other key stakeholders – both internally and externally.Support sub-system integration of technical solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle.Ensure quality by reviewing technical documents in compliance with the Rolls-Royce Management System (RRMS).Use analytical methods and tools for dimensioning and validating parts and assemblies.Manage product configuration and ensure data integrity.

Your Profile:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Production Technology, or a comparable qualificationMinimum of 2 years of experience in design or manufacturing engineering, ideally in the field of Additive ManufacturingStrong knowledge of mechanical design principles and understanding of related disciplines (e.g., manufacturing engineering, thermodynamics, aerodynamics)Experience with DfAM and relevant optimization/CAD softwareAnalytical mindset and structured approach to problem solvingFamiliarity with product certification and integrity frameworks is a plusExcellent communication and presentation skills in both English and German
